ALASTAIR MAGIC: MINOR HEALING SPELL
The spell is able to close shallow wounds, stop bleeding, ease swelling, break fevers, and other superficial injuries.
ALASTAIR MAGIC: MAJOR HEALING SPELL
The spell is able to heal broken bones, torn skin, damage to internal organs and other serious wounds with concentration.
ALASTAIR MAGIC: MINOR BINDING SPELL
The spell is able to hold someone in place for up to several minutes if they do not actively resist; the stronger their willpower, the harder she'll have to concentrate to keep them in place. (This will not be used without player approval.)
ALASTAIR MAGIC: MINOR SHIELD SPELL
This spell can can create a 'bubble' that can deflect physical blows and low-level magic use or elemental damage. The longer she keeps it up and the more damage it takes the more taxing it will be to maintain. It will contract over time and eventually 'break' if used too long or damaged too much. Once broken, she cannot use it again for 24 hours.
INNATE MAGICAL SOURCE
By trading away half the effectiveness of her ALASTAIR spells and the ability to learn more via their methods, Sieglinde received an innate source of magic of her own that enables her to learn spells from other worlds with proper instruction and study. Though she can become capable of using cross-canon magical spells and the like with much effort, no matter how much she works at it her efficacy will not be able to match those from said canon.

Primarily Sieglinde uses verbal casting as a method of focus for her ALASTAIR spells, though methods will vary on spells learned from characters of other canons. If she uses multiple spells within a short period of time she risks exhausting herself and will be unable to cast until rested. [⚝ AC BANK]

At current, she has learned some minor spells from Rin Tohsaka and has had her nose stuck in a Grimoire from Gilgamesh's Gate, as well as borrowing Merlin's Grimoire to study from as well before he was transferred. She studied some elemental spells with Aqua, and convinced Loki to take her on as a disciple, focusing her studies with him on illusions.

COMPANION: SKULL DOG
Thanks to Date Masamune's request in for a mount / companion on her behalf, Sieglinde ended up with a large wolf beast with a skull-like face, glowing eyes, and impressive claws. Though large enough to ride, she primarily uses it as support while walking, like an aid dog, as when riding it doesn't exactly listen to her directions on where to go so much. It is intelligent but largely non-vocal, with a carnivorous diet. At the very least it has proven itself friendly towards her. She tasked Sebastian with training it, and finally named it Isengrim, referring to it as her familiar.

Isengrim accompanied Sieglinde on most all of her missions with ALASTAIR, most notably being wounded in her defense in Perdition's Rest. The only missions he was not present for was Leramzan and Zymandis' mothership, for reasons of undercover operations. [See #2 for visual aid]

NOTE: FOOT BINDING
Sieglinde is completely out of shape, and her legs are somewhat atrophied thanks to being carried around most of her life. In a practice comparable to Chinese foot binding her feet were broken and have been bound tighter and tighter for years, resulting in misshapen feet only half the size they should be. She's lost most of the feeling in her feet, but if forced to walk on her own for a long time the pain flares up again. Her feet need constant tending at least several times a week to rebandange, soak, and massage.

Once she's older and her feet have stopped growing Sieglinde will be capable of more steadiness, but right now she's incredibly unbalanced and has difficulty walking without a crutch or support from someone else. She can manage standing up for a short time and very short distances on her own, but her walk is ungainly and swaying, and she trips and falls very easily.

UPDATE: Before the third mission, Sieglinde recruited Masamune to rebreak her feet in an attempt to undo the binding process and be less of a burden on the team. She intentionally did not use magic healing in the process out of a combination of reservations about what might happen if she returned to her world and also a somewhat masochistic desire to punish herself. As her feet are now she's returned them to a somewhat normal shape, and the bones have set once more. She's lost a lot of feeling in them due to nerve death, but she can now walk better once she relearns balance.

NOTE: SCIENTIFIC GENIUS
Though Sieglinde introduces herself as the Green Witch and speaks about her abilities in terms that sound altogether magical, her base set of knowledge is actually scientific in nature and in her canon she was not capable of any magic whatsoever. Though she's accumulated various skills through book learning, her actual focus is biological/chemical warfare, with medical treatment and the creation of medications only a byproduct of those studies.

Sieglinde is a natural born genius who was raised in a specially crafted environment designed to remove from her inhibitions and morals and drive her to focus all of her energies on the accumulation of knowledge- which she did. She was able to synthesize a poison even more potent than mustard gas, and her "magic circles" are actually representations of chemical formulas. However, she doesn't know how to discuss things in scientific terms because she was only ever taught "spells"- and having only just had this revealed to her in canon, she doesn't yet know what to do with that information, continuing to refer to herself as the Green Witch.

CONTENT WARNING

Despite her young age, Sieglinde is canonically something of a pervert, and often says things that are very inappropriate due to misunderstandings and an overactive imagination. She grew up in an all-female village with the exception of a single male servant, and was raised on books that gave her the mistaken impression that men in the outside world were filled with lust and unable to control themselves. In canon she has... offered up her virginity to her visitors thinking that they wouldn't be able to help ravishing her... groped a boy's genitalia to make sure of his maleness... and made quite a lot of perverse comments. Sieglinde thinks of herself as a woman more than a child due to her upbringing, and discusses things children aren't usually expected to know about or be allowed to talk about with no shame whatsoever. Now she's being taught that this sort of behavior isn't considered "normal", and incidents are less frequent. However, if you are in any way uncomfortable with this on an OOC level, please do not hesitate to contact me via PM, a comment after a tag, or anything else so I know to avoid these sorts of situations with your characters. Thanks!

HERBALISM LESSONS
One of the primary bases of Sieglinde's medical knowledge comes from advanced experience with herbalism and botany. Of what she knows, the use of herbs for healing and other positive means is what she is most likely to freely share with others, and since being recruited by ALASTAIR she has offered to teach what she knows to those around her willing to learn. Though she doesn't hold actual seminars or anything organized as a group, she's willing to open her laboratory/workshop up to those curious and let them learn primarily through observation- she will prompt certain things to be studied and memorized.

Those who take lessons from Sieglinde will first learn the identification and uses of European herbs, particularly those with healing properties. From there she moves on to teaching herbal treatments such as teas and salves, and over time is willing to show how to make more advanced things such as "potions" to purify wounds, staunch bleeding, etc. If you have any questions about what a character could be learning at any time feel free to PM or plurk, as I'm always willing to handwave or thread.

Current "disciples" include Graham/the Huntsman, Julius Visconti, Merlin, and Olivia.

SCIENCE/MAGIC PROJECTS
Rücknahme Projekt
Subject: SuLIN Gas
Problem: SuLIN attacks the nervous system, causing death by asphyxia in as little as 1-10 minutes when left untreated. Those exposed to the gas begin to experience difficulty breathing, nausea, and swelling/blistering of exposed skin and the lining of the lungs and throat before losing control of bodily functions, convulsive spasms, and death.
Theory: Perhaps modifying my current remedy with Mandragora extract base? Modified Henbane?
Currently: Researching using books from the Oska library, given Poisonous Mushrooms & Their Uses.

Ghul Projekt;
Subject: [1] Haise Sasaki, "Ghoul"
Problem: Subject cannot properly digest foods that are not human/ghoul flesh or coffee. Ingestion of "human food" beyond coffee produces symptoms of intestinal distress and physical weakness.
Theory: Enzymes of some kind within the "ghoul" body's intestines are blocked by some sort of ingredient within coffee that is not present in other "human foods"- isolating this ingredient and producing a medication to be consumed before meals may allow for consumption of more items.
Currently: Managed to create an enzyme paste that tricks the body into digesting food slathered with it- though it makes everything taste overwhelmingly of stale coffee. Working on improving the flavor.

Todesritter Projekt
Subject: [1] Koltira, "Death Knight"
Problem: As a cursed undead, the subject is possessed of urges to commit violence, and enters a state known as a "blood frenzy" in which he is unable to control the impulse to cause suffering. Subject is also exceedingly powerful, and magic is not an effective counter.
Theory: Whether magical, biological, or both, something builds up within the subject's body in the same manner as a toxin that triggers the frenzy at a certain level- identifying this may lead to a way in which it can be dampened or blocked.
Currently: Created a potion that attacks the identified agent, ("zorngift"), but it is too effective, burning up the agent in the blood and causing extreme agony to the subject. While this would still technically paralyze him if administered during a rage, it does nothing to prevent the frenzy itself. Must research further- meanwhile, passed three vials of the poison to Koltira for use in an emergency.

Jäger Projekt
Subject: [1] Graham, "Huntsman"
Problem: The subject's heart was physically removed by a spell and used to control him, though it has since been destroyed, leading to his "death" in his own world. Lacking the heart physically, though still kept alive via the spell, he remains metaphorically "heartless".
Theory: If the spell clinging to his body is broken and a heart transplanted or inserted, he may be able to regain a normal range of emotive behavior.
Currently: Looking into x-rays of the chest cavity, was in talks with Laedo about his abilities to potentially create a heart, researching black magic spells of a similar nature.

POST-FUTURO GOODBYE FIC
After three years in service, first to ALASTAIR, and then to Guild Ophelia of Hathaway, traveling to worlds across the universe and traversing the stars… Sieglinde Sullivan returns to Germany on February 18th, 1889. The same day she had left, what seemed like so long ago.

She wakes in the bed she had fallen asleep in years past, her familiar laying over her legs and her single suitcase at the foot of the bed… her memories intact, her body unchanged. Just as Hathaway had promised. The scar on her unbound foot from the bullet in Perdition’s Rest, the tattoo of the formula she had written on her back, the chemical burns she’d gained on fingers, the humble source of magic residing within her… all still there. Isengrim’s cloaking device on his collar, the one she’d used back in Woodhurst… still functioning, turning the skull-faced canine into a normal, albeit large dog.

As if in a dream she slips from her bed and wanders the house. Finds Wolfram, recovering from the wounds she had operated on before her disappearance. Finds Ciel, who she now knew was not as princely as he had seemed to her once, sleeping. Finds the demon, Sebastian. Despite the lies she tells them to explain the changes, the way she spins things… she knew that he would be the most dangerous. Compared to him… manipulating the Queen of England was easy.

She negotiates for an estate and a stipend for her research… and for a time, she is not lonely. There is the cure to the Ultimate Magic to formulate and test. There are all sorts of things to settle in to, to discover, to study… and to prepare for, in between tasks for the Phantomhive household. This world… it couldn’t replicate many of the things she had learned on her travels. Could not yet accomplish some of the science and medical advancements other worlds had possessed… but she does her best, as carefully and responsibly as she can. Writes to the best academic minds she can find, encourages, and assists, and because this world also wasn’t quite ready for female genius in particular… she uses Wolfram’s name to publish her work and her theories. Tries to nudge them in the right direction as Wolfram Gelzer becomes known as a reclusive madman or genius, the critics cannot decide.

But there come times when she feels adrift… when she doesn’t quite feel connected to that world even as she lives in it. When the people she has loved and lost haunt her, even outside her dreams. When even Wolfram, who she knew could understand that something had changed within her even if he had no way to truly believe what, would pause, eyes falling to her carefully reshaped feet that he had once broken, or to the sprawling “magic circle” inked upon her back as he held up her dressing gown for her to slip into. (She couldn’t trust a lady’s maid to handle such tasks, even as she grew older. They would see the scars, or the ink, and word would get round- slightly worse word than a supposedly respectable young woman who kept only a single butler.) Yet she doesn’t have words that do not make her sound insane, even for the only one at her side that she trusts.

The Queen arranges her debut when the time is right, and she receives several offers despite her somewhat wild reputation. She is lovely, and a favorite of the Queen, even if she is German, even if she has ideas unbefitting most wives. After careful consideration, she consents to marriage to the second son of an earl after she has Ciel look into his background. A nice young man, with a good education, a gentle spirit, and a habit towards quiet and the allowance of her… “eccentricities” while he dedicated himself to the study of butterflies. Wolfram finds him terribly weak, and not good enough for her, but still cries at the wedding. Despite herself, Sieglinde scans the pews for faces she remembers… and for a moment, she thinks she sees one, no, two- there, lounging with a smile and a casual wave next to a stuffy new mother-in-law. But when she blinks, it is gone… and she cannot be sure she did not imagine it.

In time, she bears a daughter, Minna. There are nannies to care for her, and her research calls, but she does try to be a mother. Tries to hold her and play with her and direct her towards the things she had been as a child- but gentler. Of course, gentler than her own mother. But the girl will not have it, and despite her efforts she loves her father best, loves frills and fashions and dolls and wants nothing to do with learning. It is a shame… but Sieglinde had been prepared for such a possibility.

Her second child is a boy, Bertholdt. She was disappointed at first, but he grows on her… an artistic boy, with no head for the sciences, though he was kind enough to try to impress her before she allowed him to study what he wished. She waits for a time, hoping that Minna will come around… but she doesn’t, and in the meantime, the Lord Phantomhive and his butler both disappear from the earth. Even knowing what she did about his motives... she had always been grateful to Ciel for taking her from Wolfsschlucht... had always hoped he would listen to her, that he would not follow that path down to hell... but he did, and so she takes Wolfram and she travels.

There is unrest in Europe that she fears will go the route of some of the history books she’d read in Oska’s libraries… but she is only one woman, and the flow of time across worlds was too delicate for her to imagine even with all she has seen, and so she returns to England to work, to train doctors, nurses, medics, and nuns, and to eventually bear a third child that thankfully resembles her closely enough that her husband does not suspect she is the product of a few days spent with a handsome blonde scholar in Austria that reminded her of someone she’d once known in ALASTAIR. Just the way he smiled. Now, the way Lorelai smiled.

The war to end all wars comes despite her hopes for peace, and she leaves her children to go as close to the front as is allowed as her husband finds himself conscripted and sent to command men in the Balkans. (Wolfram she had spared by calling in a favor with the new King- she couldn’t trust the children with anyone else.) The failure of the Green Witch Education Project had only delayed her old country, it seemed. There was still chemical gas seeping through the fields, though it was not as strong as that which she had created and then seen destroyed. It feels like Perdition’s Rest again, like Woodhurst, like Nalawi… wave upon wave of injured, crying, screaming, bleeding, struggling for breath and begging to live. She does her best, she saves as many as she can… uses magic when no one else is looking, but so many of them still die. So young, so pointlessly that it makes her ache.

She goes back to Wolfram and the children without her husband, who she is told died bravely. It is a tragic thing, he’d been a good man, and it was excuse enough to move to the countryside, where she oversees the construction of a larger laboratory and teaches students from all over the world little by little. It’s selfish, and maybe not the best idea at her age, but after all that death… she asks Wolfram to give her another child. Another life, another attempt to get it right... and it just seemed so unfair. He’d given his whole life to her service, neglecting his own… so she remarries, and takes the name Gelzer instead. Despite her worries for the future of her legacy and much to her relief, Lorelai’s curiosity turns out to know no bounds, and so she began in earnest to train the next Green Witch as her belly swells.

The birth is hard. She’d expected it, shouting instructions half-mad with exhaustion from the too-bloody birth bed, swearing bloody murder that if she has to reach in and adjust the baby herself she will do it, by the gods, Wolfram sweating bullets, but Bertholdt’s mistress is a great help, as is Lorelai- and for a moment there, with her last child at her breast and the strange family she has made gathered round… Sieglinde finally remembers the way she’d felt that day in Oska when she’d discovered what the word “home” truly meant.

Pretending to take it easy after Hilde… she writes books in between teaching Lorelai. The world wasn’t ready for the truth as she knew it… so she presents them as meant for children. The Adventures of the Green Witch series makes for popular tales, and she publishes many over the years. (Good funding for her research on vaccinations.) The Rise of Dragons, The Village Without a Sun, The Two Goddesses, The Babes of a New World, The Desert Hive, The Craven Virus… one for each world she has seen. Another for the tales she had been told by the recruits she had known… to preserve their names, and their worlds, and the faces she would never see again. The Huntsman, The God of Mischief, The Immortal Thief, The Reaper, The Queen of Dragons, The Lord of Oushu, The King of Kings, The Son of Peleus, The Ghoul, The Princess, The Barrister… as many as she can. Her son had grown to become quite a decent painter, and with her descriptions… they were illustrated to some satisfaction.

Minna marries a viscount, who Sieglinde does not much care for but who treats her well and provides her with happiness and children of her own. Bertholdt turns out roguish and didn’t seem inclined to marriage at all, but she sees to the care of his children and their mothers, (one of which was a lovely girl, who she ends up taking as an assistant in the labs, and whose own daughter was quite clever, it turned out). Lorelai was just as free with her affections, or, freer, rather, considering her disregard for gender, but there was little need to rush.

She thinks perhaps for all her efforts that she still had not been the mother she’d wished to be. When age takes Wolfram, her children weep so even though they had all grown, and remind her that he had been a better parent to them than she had. She’s grateful- she’d always been grateful. Always loved him, in a variety of ways… and it is harder to say goodbye this time. Before he passed, she had told him everything. Told him the truth, about everything that had happened… and he had smiled, and held her hand, and said he had known all along. … Of course he had.

The books, the contents of the suitcase, her notes, and her spells… she finally turns them over to Lorelai. She was old enough and wise enough by then to become the next Green Witch. To hear and see proof of the truth at last, and know what it is she was the keeper of. The legacy she inherited. But even after passing the mantle… she doesn’t stop. She slows… even Isengrim finally begins to slow, but there are more wars, and more wounded to treat, and more cures for more weapons to develop, and more requests from the King, and so her work is never done…

But that was how she liked it.

Soon enough though… she thinks that Der Tod will pay a visit. Hopes, even now, that it might be the sort of death god she remembered from so long ago, with a jaunty step, a cane he didn’t need, and a smile, just for her.

“Grandmother?” The voice calls Sieglinde out of her nostalgic reflections, staring up at the stars where she sits on the veranda of her estate, a thick blanket laid over her knees and Isengrim curled at her feet. Her eyes aren’t nearly as sharp as they used to be, and she can no longer pick out the individual constellations, can no longer scan the sky looking for hints of movement or signs of life… but the one who calls her is close enough, if she adjusts her glasses.

“Yes, dear?” Her fifth grandchild smiles up at her, and as she reaches out weakly to lay a hand on her head, she absently recalls that it was her birthday. That was right… her 90th. (Or 93rd, by her personal count.) Very impressive, a number well quite worth a family gathering and all the fuss… but oh, her hands have become quite wrinkled, somewhere along the way, her hair stark white, and her feet so sore.

“I asked if you could tell me one of your stories- one of the ones about the ship in the stars.” This girl was an imaginative one… a believer yet, even though she was older than Sieglinde herself had been when she left childhood behind. Perhaps even the next Green Witch, once Lorelai was ready to relinquish the title. Obligingly, she weakly shifts over in her chair and pats the space beside her to allow the girl to hop up, adjusting her shawl to cover them both as she searches her slowly fading memory until a good one comes to mind. Ah, yes…

“Once upon a time… there was a girl called the Green Witch, who had just found out she was not truly a witch at all, and who, after losing almost everything she had ever known, slipped through a crack in space and time and found herself on the greatest of adventures…”
