NAME: Sieglinde Sullivan
CANON: Kuroshitsuji
AGE: 11
APPEARANCE: Here
CANON POINT: ch. 104
BACKGROUND: Here
PERSONALITY: Though Sieglinde makes a somewhat mysterious and stoic entrance in to the series, presenting herself as the mature and elusive Green Witch, Master of the Green Manor, of Wolfsschlucht Village, the fact is that she is a eleven year old girl who has been raised in a rather strange combination of freedom and captivity.
Because she's grown up in a position of power Sieglinde has wanted for nothing material in her life, and because of this she has been spoiled by her upbringing in some ways. She takes food and its presence for granted, and assumes people around her will simply respond to her orders and questions because... everyone around her always has. As someone who has always had servants, she also doesn't really know how to do a lot of basic things, and just expects certain things to be done for her.
When it comes to manners she is quite rude unintentionally simply because none of those who attend her ever told her not to do things or correct her behavior. She stares at people overly long, eats with her hands with most unladylike gusto because no one ever insisted she use silverware, and often asks things and demands attention from people around her without imagining that someone might refuse or not be happy to give it. However, none of this is malicious or intentionally bratty- she really just doesn't know better for the most part. When corrected she tends to protest at first, but with proper motivation or coaxing is more than happy to change or learn new ways if it seems like it would be beneficial or make her more "normal".
And Sieglinde does learn fast. Though she attributes her intellect to being the successor to a powerful line of witches, (she chalks up a lot to her being a witch), she is a natural genius. This can make her somewhat smug, used to being the "smartest in the room", so to speak, and she can sometimes come off cocky or condescending without realizing it.
Having been kept isolated within a small village comprised of women, Sieglinde is ignorant of how to behave around children and men. She has practically no experience in interacting as a child with other children, or in how to treat men at all. Because of what she has read in books she has rather outrageous ideas about men- mainly that they are lust filled creatures who think only of ahem. She herself is quite blithely curious about the ahem as only a youngster can be, though this gets her in to trouble more often than not and she is slowly realizing that most people in the outside world think you can't just discuss such things.
When given the opportunity to be around people her own age or when not under pressure to act as a leader in her role as the Green Witch, Sieglinde can be very childish. Around adults she is used to always acting as one herself, but she's just as easily entertained with the sort of simple activities she's grown up without, such as drawing and sleepovers and midnight snacks. Though she can appear very in control and mature when she's in charge of a situation, she is emotional and easily swayed when she is not, easily influenced by those around her who seem to know what they're doing or who seem knowledgeable or wise. Though recent canon events will lead to her being less trusting in the future, she has been naively trusting in the past.
Despite her age, Sieglinde is very used to healing and caring for others, and can act nurturing or strictly with patients as need calls for, regardless of how old they are in relation to her. She is also rather forgiving, having the intelligence to understand extenuating circumstances, when one might not be behaving like themselves, or when motives are well-intentioned but the action may not be.
Sieglinde is above all else curious, and she devours everything new she can find out about... most everything. She never seems content in knowing "enough", (though she does have a decent respect for personal privacy), and once she's had a taste of something she tends to want more, not satisfied with only words or pictures if there's a possibility to try it for herself. She has spent a lot of her life secretly desiring to see the "outside world" beyond her village for this reason.
Despite this curiosity and hunger for a taste of the "outside world", Sieglinde takes duties entrusted to her very seriously, and her feelings of protectiveness towards her villagers are strong. Despite feeling torn between loyalty to her home and the desire for the "outside", even when given the chance she doesn't actually agree to abandon her charges until she's completed her duties first. Though she will push and plead slightly for selfish reasons, she tends to cave to authority figures or people she respects/fears and remember to try for selflessness.
Even if Sieglinde has many reasons to resent a situation she is inclined to accept her role and the responsibilities that come with it, because her sense of loyalty and her acceptance of the burdens placed on her is stronger than her personal desires, though she won't make a secret of small negative feelings she experiences, like regret. Even though she is still a child, and may act out on occasion, she ends up putting others before herself and trying her best to be what people need her to be- the wise, mature, and powerful Green Witch.
In recent canon, however, it's worth noting that Sieglinde has experienced a great deal of trauma in a very short time, and this will affect her behavior dependent on how she fares within ALASTAIR. Because of this sudden trauma and the fact that I am pulling her from directly after hours in which she's found out her entire life is a lie, she will be more withdrawn and sullen for a time until she is able to begin bouncing back, which will depend on who she encounters and what events occur upon recruitment as she tries to discover just who she is anymore if she isn't the Green Witch.
ABILITIES: Sieglinde is considered in her world to be something of a natural scientific genius, demonstrating signs of advanced learning from a very young age such as advanced reading level and understanding of scientific topics such as chemistry. It's implied that genetics, her parents both being scientists of advanced caliber, is perhaps to thank for her prodigal intelligence. She is shown to be gifted in all areas of learning, able to pick up enough of a foreign language in a single day to have an unscripted conversation, and to have an understanding of scientific concepts far beyond her age. On top of her natural potential she has lived most of her life in the Green Witch Education Project, which was designed specifically to remove any moral, physical, and mental obstacles between her and the drive to know and create, which fueled both her base of knowledge and her capacity for curiosity. She is gifted enough that at the age of eleven she was able to continue her parent's work and synthesize the chemical formula for mustard gas.
Because of her genius and studies, Sieglinde is most well-versed in the field of chemistry, as well as biomedical science and botany, though she has been raised to understand them through the lens of magic rather than with proper contemporary terms. What she knows as potions are actually liquid forms of medication. What she knows as spells are actually written chemical formulas. Though she is an alarmingly quick learner, it will take at least some time for her to unlearn the understanding of science through magic and relearn it in more modern ways.
As for her physical abilities, Sieglinde is a child, and her feet have been bound. Because she is still young, the process is still not complete due to continued bone growth, meaning her feet need consistent cleaning and management of the breaks. Her feet cannot easily support her weight and it's painful for her to walk, as well as difficult for her to do so steadily, making it impossible for her to do more than very short distances by herself unless utilizing a device she keeps in her manor that uses "witch balloons" to support her weight. She has been carried around most of her life and has had servants to attend to her every need, so she's never had to do any manual labor and is likely very weak strength-wise. She has no experience whatsoever in handling weapons.

[Thanks to a crash course and time, Sieglinde finally feels confident and calm enough to try a broadcast... ! So when the feed cuts on, it shows a young girl in a heavy gown and (scorched) hennin headdress, blinking a bit owlishly at the screen until she realizes... ah. Ahem.]
Good morning, fellows. I am Sieglinde Sullivan, Lord of the Green Manor. It seems that... we may be together for some time, so I thought it only prudent to introduce myself. I await your own introductions as well.
[Pause... waiting, but. Right. Apparently she has to say everything she wants to say first.]
As for being unable to return to our homes until another decides to allow it, I would like to investigate the method of our transportation. Are there those among you who are versed in what you may know as "science"?
In my world, there is no such thing as magic, but I am aware that "science" may be the true form of things that appear to be without explanation- are there none among you familiar with methods that could allow travel such as this? If so, I would seek your council on this.
[Now how does she turn it off ag- ah, yes.]
Thank you, and good day.
