I hope you're well. I hear that the rebuilding with the Nalawi is going well. How are they taking to learning modern medicine?
I'm writing you because I wonder if you might be interested in a rather unique learning experience? We've spoken about my eye before, and I know you've expressed an intention to check in on the healing. I've since spoken to Laedo, who I believe is among your number who have stayed behind on the islands, and he believes he can heal the injury and replace the lost tissue; I intend to take him up on this as soon as you are all back in Oska. As you know more about magic than I do, I thought you might be interested to witness the process.
I am well enough. They are slow to learn an entirely new way, but learn they do. I have gathered several of their number to teach- those too old or infirm to fish or farm, and am imparting what I know. Hopefully they will in turn impart it to others once we are gone.
That is an interesting proposal you offer me. Of course, I shall expect. I did not know Sir Laedo's magical expertise extended to such things, so it will be educational to watch. I am grateful for the courtesy.
A time-honored approach: after all, who better to then go and wrangle the rambunctious youngstrs into learning than the elders? I'm sure they know all the tricks to tame that rowdy horde.
And in turn I'll be grateful for your observational skills. I imagine I will be rather distracted by the process myself, but perhaps between the two of us we can put together some interesting insights once the act is complete. You have, after all, studied magic far more extensively than I have, even if the nature may be different than the magic Laedo uses. Did you know he generates his magic in his own body? Like body heat?
